★☆☆☆☆ - UNRESPONSIVE, DISRESPECTFUL - DEBORAH BERRY - 8/17/2023 - flag as inappropriate - comment
Atty Mark D Welsh has been assigned to represent our mother in a guardianship case in which I, along with my oldest sister, have filed for through Dekalb County Probate Court of Georgia. Currently our mother is under the control of our youngest sister, who lives with her, whom we feel is no longer fit or capable of taking care of and assisting her in her best interest, based on information from direct sources and documented facts. The very first day that the family was informed that Atty Welsh was assigned as our mothers attorney, I reached out to his office and introduced myself to him by voice mail, and thanked him for representing our mother and left my name and number. Atty Welsh never returned the common courtesy. Not only has he not reached back out to me, but he hasn't reached out to any family member in regards to our mother. One of the main complaints in reference to our mother's care is that our youngest sister has taken total control of her every move and refuses to allow anyone to speak to or see our mother, including her siblings, friends, church members or pastor. As a family, we were under the impression that Atty Welsh would be acting in our mothers best interest, without making any judgement calls before the case is in front of a judge, and allowing or setting up a plan or agreement, to allow other family members to speak to or see her other loved ones. Atty Welsh has done the exact opposite. For no justified reason; other than quoting that. "he represents our mother, and only owes client attorney privilege, per the clerk of the court." What type of person or attorney who represents probate issues, believes that they have a privilege that supersedes the privilege of a 78 year old mother, to see and talk to her other two daughters, family and friends? What explanation can you give a family for totally ignoring and disrespecting them as a unit, concerned about their loved one. I have never met a attorney so out of touch, unconcerned, and deliberately cold and disrespectful. I would not recommend Atty Mark D Welsh to my worst enemy. I am appalled that The State of Georgia or Dekalb County would have someone of this statue handling family affairs or on the calendar. It doesn't matter to me, how good you were yesterday. It only matters how good you are today, because yesterday is gone and our family is missing too many yesterday's in regards to our mother. I would not wish this experience on any family.
